Having the Obamas be our First Family would really make me proud. It's amazing how far this country has come.
There's a no-yappin', all lovely warm bass-y ambient dub podcast from Bill Laswell that I've been listening to for ages. The latest (Transmission 31) is a beautiful way to ease into a Monday.
You can buy a cookie cutter custom-made by the fabulosity of the team at Cakelove shaped like a starfish, a sea turtle, or my favorite, the octopus.
Your donation helps Oceana, a group working to save the world's oceans.
Cookies and the ocean! Everyone wins.

Walking down Madison this morning, we see a man standing in the middle of the street. He's waving his hand way over his head, staring down the street, a sad expression on his face. Cabs beep and he shakes his head to let them pass on. He keeps waving, standing in the dead center of traffic, cars swerving around him. He's waving goodbye to -someone-, obviously, and although we can't see who, I get a little teary anyway. I hope whoever he was waving to, that they were watching and waving back.
"Don't worry so much about having a flat tummy. Buddha had a belly, and he was enlightened. It's healthy to have a strong core and a soft belly to protect it."
(heard in my very favorite yoga class, from the teacher/studio owner.
To be fair, this same teacher has been known in other classes to make my abs scream and beg for mercy.)
Where could I find some unusual contact paper? Everything in our house is covered in this 70's avocado floral print that is peel-y, and so not pretty.
I heard yall needed to be reminded what doghacking is all about.
As someone who makes it my job, and always has, to work with people, I think this story (via Seth's Blog) about Zappo's going above and beyond for a customer is just about the best story ever. It's the service heart that makes or breaks a customer experience.
